Integrated Satellite Communications
Satellite with Ancillary Terrestrial Component.

TerreStar's geostationary satellite (TerreStar-1) provides coverage to the Continental United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Hawaii and Alaska. Our 20MHz of spectrum is contiguous in the 2GHz band and is well suited for voice, data and content delivery. TerreStar-1 offers approximately 500 dynamically configurable spot beams allowing TerreStar to allocate spectrum and capacity using Ground Based Beam Forming (GBBF). This allows for great efficiency during day-to-day operations and capacity as needed in a situational crisis.

TerreStar is utilizing commercial-off-the-shelf products to leverage the best technology available. Integrating satellite communications with existing cellular networks, or with TerreStar’s 2GHz Ancillary Terrestrial Component (ATC) Spectrum over an all-IP network, ensures that communication connectivity is where you need it, when you need it.

TerreStar has the largest, most advanced commercial communications satellite, which will provide a unique integrated satellite/ground-based design. This will enable highly differentiated service offerings to address various markets and will do all of this with small, light-weight smartphones that can be carried as an every-day phone.
